If you had the opportunity to go back in time and change something about your life, would you do it? Even knowing that it would have a huge impact on the course your life took, would you take the chance?

Shortly before my 18th Birthday i went deaf, this was due to a genetic disease i have which causes tumours to grow on my acoustic nerves and the only way to get them out is to remove the acoustic nerves. Now if they had caught the tumours earlier, theirs a possibility they could have used alternative treatments to eradicate the tumours whilst preserving my hearing. Now this is purely hypothetical but if i was presented with the opportunity to go back in time and ensure my condition was diagnosed earlier and therefore preserve my hearing, im not sure if i’d seize the oportunity or not.

On the one hand not being able to hear is a great handicap and has meant theres so many things i can no longer do or experince. But on the other hand such a monumental change could have so many ripple effects, it could lead to me not losing my confidence so much and being more outgoing and as a result not getting closer to a friend whose very special to me and who i love dearly.

My question to you all is, if you had the chance to go back and change one key aspect of your life, would you do it? Even knowing it would change your life in so many unknowable ways and that you could potentially lose parts of your life you adore.
