Well it’s official, in three or four week’s time I’ll be off to university to begin a three year course studying BA History. The realisation that I’m going to be leaving home hasn’t hit me yet. When it does I’m not sure which will win, the fear of leaving my comfort zone and venturing into the unknown or the excitement of all the new things I’m going to experience.

It’s never easy to take that step and leave our comfort zones where we feel safe and secure, to venture out into the unknown. There’s always the fear that something may go wrong, or something might happen which we don’t know how to deal with. As hard as it may be, it’s something we all have to do at one point or another. If we want to grow as an individual and experience what the world has to offer, we need to take that step forward into the unfamiliar.

For my part I can take comfort in the knowledge that I wont be entirely alone in a strange environment, a very dear friend of mine also happens to be going to the same university as me and is indeed staying in the same Halls of residence as I am, so that’s at least one friendly face around.
