If The Doc Say’s It’s Ok ?
8 November, 2008. | Post by Adam RSo you’re feeling a little bit down, it always seems to be raining on your parade, and you head to the doctor. Your doctor is like one of the ones at my local surgery, who will rename nameless as he is an excellent doctor, just a little, drug prone. Your GP suggests a member of the Prozac family to go along side your councilling. You take a high dose for a while, and then you feel better, do you stop taking the ‘tablets’.
When somebody says to me, ‘I need to pick up my prescription’, I always take it to mean the same thing. ‘I’m on my way to my Dealers’. And is this not the case?
What is the difference between Recreational and Prescribed drugs? I mean really. Both can lead to cases of ‘Drug Abuse’ which result in the same end as each other. Are either really worth the risk?
This is going to incorporate a sort of follow up to my ramblings about the mark-ups that are put on drugs, because Drug Dealers and Pharmacies use the same mark-up scheme, actually the mark-up is lower from a Drug Dealer. I am not promoting drugs, of any kind, I despise them. I don’t like the idea of even antibiotics.
The Prozac family can be used as a ‘main contender’ in my argument. I was reading an article, coinciding with my Mark-up ramblings leg-work. I noticed the positives and negatives of the drug family. Listing around 15 side-effects of the family, I noticed many were similar to that of recreational drugs, you know, the illegal ones. Paranoia and Anxiety are two to be noted. This family of drugs is used to treat Anxiety, yet in, varying figures so I am using an average of those, 16% of cases cause Anxiety, or increase Anxiety. It’s like the Anti-Christ.
It’s not just physical effects though, its also psychological effects. If you know, in your mind, that something you physically do is stopping something bad from happening, when you remove that positive thing from the equation, you suffer withdrawal. Addiction is incredibly possible.
In many cases, Doctors and Scientists working on drugs use the word ‘Shouldn’t’ instead of ‘Can’t’ … ‘You Shouldn’t suffer adverse effects’
Do the positives outweigh the negatives, with either of the two, Recreational or Prescription? In my eyes, No.
I do realise that in some cases they are a necessity, or so we are told.
Now it may seem I am ‘Prescription Bashing’ but it is needless to say, they are BAD.
Many famous figures have suffered, actually scratch that, forced upon themselves, the negative effects of drug taking. Such as death.
So here is my list, Liza Manelli, Elvis Presley .. More recently, Heath Ledger. Matthew Perry A.K.A Chandler Bing, had an addiction to painkillers.
Prescription Drugs are just as bad as Recreational Drugs, they are all Drugs!
Are the ones your taking really necessary?
