The thoughts and ramblings of a couple of crazy people.

The God Effect

I visited the United States recently, and it's always interesting to see higher volumes of religious affiliation and observance almost everywhere you go. There are Jesus fish on cars. Churches every 10 yards and everyone and their pet donkeys wear little crosses around their necks (okay, that's a small exaggeration). A lot of Americans have this belief in an elevated or supernatural being that created the Universe and everything in it. The Omnipotent shrouded in mystery, never to reveal himself. Unless of course he wakes up one day and feels like being nailed to a cross..again. Others “believe” in the flying spaghetti monster, which is just as feasible a theory as any.

But what's my theory of God you ask? I'm so glad you did; let's have a discussion about energy on a metaphysical level. Let's say that I punch you in the face. There is a certain amount of energy required for me to do this, which I gained from Earth, directly or indirectly. Everything leads back to eating something from the ground which was ultimately produced by our planet, which was in turn a product of the forces that created the Universe.

Now for argument's sake, let's say the force of my fist crushed your nasal cavity, forcing large, pointy bone shards deep into the soft tissues of your brain, rupturing blood vessels, causing massive brain trauma and haemorrhaging, leading to loss of brain function and an excruciatingly painful death. I believe at this point the “God effect” takes place.

Our bodies are made up of different types of energy, one of them being electric. Assuming electrical current cannot die, but can change form (Albert Einstein), it's plausible we are nothing more than a complex manifestation of electrical current. This means we are neither a body nor a brain, but in fact energy that uses the latter for storage, and the former as a vessel of transport. Theoretically, in our next "life," we would not be able to remember our previous life, because the electrical energy would have metamorphosed to heat energy and dissipated from the corpse to be recycled by the planet – or Universe. And our memories would be left behind to decompose and no longer be viable.

This God effect is not a new theory by any means, but in my opinion is usually misconstrued as ghosts or a spirit in a religious sense, as opposed to one of the Universe's many phenomena. In fact, during my research for this article I found that this particular view was more widely regarded than I had originally thought. So in a sense, my perception of a God is encapsulated by the concept of reincarnation, minus the karma.
