Obvious

17 January, 2009. | Post by Dasati

This is more of a whinge than a proper blog so apologies. I know alot of people find it irritating when people state the obvious, but what annoys me even more is when people don’t seem to notice the obvious. Biggest example is in the game World of Warcraft. When someone asks me to make something for them with my charachter, then asks what i need to make it, even though the item needed is in the name!! Anyone else have more examples of how people fail to notice the blatantly obvious?

Random thoughts and urges

3 January, 2009. | Post by Dasati

First off sorry i’ve not posted in awhile, just not been in the blogging frame of mind of late, anyways onto the blog.

Whilst out at the seaside today (slowly freezing to death for those intrested) it occured to me just how many random thoughts and urges I actually have on a given day. For instance today whilst waiting in the queue at the chip shop, Isuddenly started wondering who was it that got the idea to milk cows? I mean seriously who looked at a cow and thought “I think i’ll squeeze those dangly things and drink what comes out”? Similarily I sometimes have random urges to go for a walk, eat a certain food or just act like a lunatic for a few minutes. Perhaps its just me and my highly erratic thought process, anyone else get random inexplicable (great word) thought’s or urge’s from time to time?

Prophecy

26 November, 2008. | Post by Dasati

So as any reader of fantasy books or watcher of fantasy films should know, prophecy is a tool often used. The fortelling centuries ago of some dark time or threat to the world which some hero (usually some country stable boy who just happens to be ‘the chosen one’) is meant to be discovered and save everybody. Have you noticed however that these prophecys are always so damn cryptic? Its always something like “the coming of the dark one shall spell the beginning of the end times”, it never gives you any details. Who is the dark one? When exactly is he coming? How long is the end times? Now either these sage mystic fellows who get these prophecys either just get a glimpse or are just damn unhelpful. Would it kill them to provide notes? A calendar saying when things will happen? Why can’t they say “On the 24th of June Darryl Thorn (the dark one) will arrive in the capital city at the West Gate around about tea time, signalling the beginning of the end times, which by the way is the next three months after that day” ?

Geuss its just not mystic-y enough.

The joy’s of fire

16 November, 2008. | Post by Dasati

Call me a nutcase but i find when playing games theres something immensly satisfying about setting your opponents on fire. Yes there just computer generated pixels but still its oddly therapeutic to set them ablaze. I feel buoyed by a sense of giddy glee when running round totting a flamethrower, sneaking up behind some poor sod then setting him on fire. It’s also a good way to defend as the instinctive reaction when seeing some madman charging at your blasting a flamethrower in your face is to move backwards away from them, I’ve noticed in alot of cases even if its a group of siz or more players who’ve just spent the last five mintes fighting tooth and nail for a stretch of land, they’ll all rapidly back peddle in the face of one crazy flamethrower weilding lunatic.

How do you like your opponent, medium rare or extra crispy?

(Note i am in no way advising people to go out and set themselves/other people on fire in real life. I am in no way responsible for the actions of any morons after they have read this blog.)

If I Was A Tree …

13 November, 2008. | Post by Adam R

I think I would be an Oak Tree, given the choice of what tree I was. Although theres a chance of me getting cut down and getting turned into an expensive set of draws, expensive shelves, or a fancy desk. But let’s face it, if I was a tree, I would not know what those things where to fear them.

Just imagine the peaceful life.
